John 14
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
John 14:1 says, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” In a world where fear and anxiety are often the norm, Jesus reminds us that we have a choice! We can choose to not allow our hearts to be ruled by fear. How do you typically respond to stressful or uncertain situations? What changes when you choose to look to Jesus instead of focusing on your worries or fears?
The scripture tells us clearly the importance of guarding our hearts (Proverbs 4:23). How are you guarding your heart against worry and fear? What are the things that fill your heart with peace, joy, and trust in Jesus?
John 14:27 offers us peace that is unlike anything the world gives. Jesus says, “Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” When faced with a troubling situation, what would it look like for you to remind yourself of Jesus’s presence and peace, experiencing His peace instead of giving in to anxiety?
Reflect on the truth that the key to peace in our hearts is having full confidence in God. He knows the path we are on, and He’s working for our good. Take some time to pray and ask the Lord if there is something you’ve been holding onto tightly, unable to let go because of fear, uncertainty, or anxiety. Whatever is weighing on your heart, give it to God and trust Him to take care of it, reminding yourself that He is the peace that surpasses all understanding and He is more than enough.
