As I read this I was reminded of a general preparing His troops for battle. For a mission.
This was their briefing. Where they were to go and not to go. What to do and not do. What to take and not take. How to find shelter. How to use their training to be shrewd, to be clever, to be honest, to be holy. To be on guard and keep their eyes and ears open.
Then he gave them a pep talk. An encouragement.
1. Do not be afraid and
2. He says twice that YOU are valuable.
Then he commissioned them and gave them the authority of God to drive out evil spirits and heal every disease and sickness.
That's a pretty thorough preparation and briefing.
He prepares us and gives us his word and the authority of God so that we can go out and win. Win others and win for the Kingdom of God.
