RETURN TO TRUE WORSHIP

DAY 21 - January 25

Believe it or not, we have officially come to the end of these 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting.  And as we do, I invite you to take a moment to pause and recognize what God has revealed to you, spoken to you, and done in you, over these past 21 days.  In fact, I encourage you to pause now and take a few minutes to go back and read through the answers you wrote in answering each day's reflection questions, as well as the notes you have made in your prayer and study time as the Lord spoke to you.  And then, just as you were intentional to consider our ways, remember His faithfulness, and return to Action, my prayer for you is that you won’t leave it all here on day 21 but that you will carry it all with you into the days, months, and years ahead - because He’s not done yet!!  For as Philippians 1:6 says,

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”  (NLT)

There’s an old children's church song that goes something like this:

“He’s still working on me to make me what I ought to be.

It took Him just a week to make the moon and the stars,

the sun and the earth, and Jupiter and Mars.

How loving and gracious He must be, because He’s still working on me.”

The words to that little jingle may be simple, but they are also powerful.  Because though we may grow weary at times and though we may feel the weight of our shortcomings and unworthiness, He - the God who created the universe and everything in it - is patiently and lovingly working on me.  And the same is true for you.  So if you didn’t get the answer to your prayer yet - keep praying, because He’s not done!  If you are still wrestling with the uncertainties of the future - keep trusting, because He’s not done!  And if you can still see hurting, lost, and lonely around you (and we all most definitely can!) - keep working, because He’s.  Not.  Done!

You see, all the Lord has done and continues to do isn’t just so you can live your life with a renewed purpose, but to live your life in HIS purpose. A life that reflects the scriptures we have been working to memorize these past 3 weeks.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 (KJV)

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)

“For we are God’s masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do

the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

What a joy it has been to work through this entire series! Lord Jesus, You have spoken to me, given me direction, created a peaceful heart in dealing with some issues and decisions I need to make, and my trust in You is stronger each day! James 4:7-10 is a good summation for me in this whole series."Therefore, submit to God. Moreover, take a stand against the adversary, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and He will come close to you. Clean your hands, sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded people! Wail, mourn, sob! Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy into gloom! Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift…
