Aligning our Priorities with God’s Purpose

DAY 0 - January 4

Welcome & Introduction

Heritage Family,

Welcome to 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting! As we step into this special season together, we're embarking on a journey of spiritual renewal, deeper connection with God, and expectant faith for personal and corporate breakthroughs. I am expecting to hear incredible stories of God doing big things in us and through us. As you have those breakthrough moments, I want to encourage you to share those with me, your family, your lifegroups, and others in the church. Testimonies breed faith, and we need all the faith we can get to do what God has called us to do.

Over the next three weeks, we will intentionally set aside distractions to draw near to God, seeking His presence, guidance, and transforming power in our lives and in the lives of others across our city, nation, and world. I am asking that, as you hear from the Lord about ways you can be involved in making a difference or even opportunities for us as a church, that you write those down because I believe that you are going to see us move from work to work and walk in step with what God wants to accomplish here.

In tomorrow’s devotional, we will walk through more specifics together; however, for now, here is a brief rundown on how to engage with us over the next 21 days.

  1. Set Your Goal: Identify specific areas where you need God's intervention—direction, healing, family, finances, or spiritual growth.

  2. Choose Your Fast: Consider a partial fast (e.g., no breakfast), a selective fast (e.g., no sugar or caffeine, etc.), a complete fast (no food), or even a heart fast (Social media, TV, entertainment). Replace your fasting time with focused prayer and Bible reading.

  3. Pray & Read: Dedicate time daily to prayer, worship, and engaging with Scripture.

  4. Resources: Visit heritageag.org/info and click the 21 Prayer & Fasting button to access daily devotionals and additional fasting resources. This section has a ton of practical resources to help you understand and succeed in your fast.

I know this time spent intentionally with Jesus right at the start of the new year will bring about both individual renewal and collective impact. It is my prayer that as you walk out each of these 21 Days with Jesus, your heart will be open, and may you experience God's presence in new ways. Let me say it up front that this is going to take some work on your part; you are going to have to commit to time with the Lord and real time to listen as you allow him to search your life, helping prepare you for what is next. I believe we have solutions to kingdom problems just waiting to be discovered inside of you. My faith has been stirred, just as we talked about this morning in service, at the beginning of the book of Ezra and the close of Chapter 1 of Haggai.  God has already begun to do a work within me.

Don’t forget about our prayer and worship service tonight at 5:00 as a way to jump-start our time with God.

Renewal starts now,

Pastor Tim Puckett
