Bring Your Need To Him

DAY 4

Scripture: Luke 5:31

Context:

In Luke 5, a man covered with leprosy approached Jesus. Now, leprosy wasn’t just a disease in that time; it made you an outcast. Isolated. Untouchable. The man fell on his face before Jesus and said,

“Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Jesus did something shocking and disturbing to everyone watching; He reached out and touched him. Then He said,

“I am willing… be clean.”

And instantly, the leprosy left him.

Devotional:

Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” (Mark 2:17)

That sounds simple, but many people still disqualify themselves. We think, “Maybe God will heal others… but not me.” We often minimize our need and think, "Well, my need isn't as big as some others,' so we don't confidently take it all to Him. But healing isn’t a reward for the strong; it’s a response to the broken. Remember, Jesus didn’t avoid messy situations; He stepped into them. He didn’t run from sickness, He confronted it. He didn’t wait for people to fix themselves. He invited them to come as they were. You don’t have to clean yourself up before coming to Jesus. You don’t have to minimize your need. You don’t have to pretend everything is okay. Bring Him the real thing. Because the truth is: your need is the very place where His power wants to meet you.

Reflection Question:

Have I been hesitant to bring my need fully to Jesus?

Prayer Focus:

“Jesus, I bring You everything—nothing held back.”

Action Step:

Name your need specifically in prayer today, don’t generalize it, and believe that he is willing! This week, if you haven't done so already, go through the gospels and begin reading the other stories of healing listed, and notice the accounts of healing recorded. Were they believers? What kind of status did they have in culture? What kind of needs were they? Begin to compare and contrast each account.

Hint: Jesus healed all kinds of needs for people of all kinds of backgrounds. There is no “model” for

the needs Jesus healed. You and your need are not out of the reach of Jesus. Remember the response

to the Leper, “Yes, I am willing!”
