DAY 7
Scripture: John 11:38-44
Devotional:
In John 11, Jesus receives word that His friend Lazarus is sick. But instead of rushing there, He waits. By the time Jesus arrives, Lazarus has been dead for four days. Martha meets Him and says,
“Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”
When Jesus comes to the tomb, it’s sealed with a stone. The situation feels final. Over. Its too late. But Jesus tells them, “Take away the stone.” In that moment Martha hesitates, “Lord, by now there is a bad odor…” Some translation say, “he Stinketh already” In other words: this is beyond fixing.
Have you ever felt like you were there? You called on God when it was still in His reach - when they were just having symptoms, or when the relationship just began to deteriorate - but now the diagnosis is terminal, the relationship is severed and it feels like it is beyond fixing. But look how Jesus responds,
“Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
They roll the stone away. Jesus prays, then calls out in a loud voice: “Lazarus, come out!” And the man who had been dead walks out of the tomb.
This is the kind of power Jesus carries. Not just over sickness, but over situations that feel final. Some of us aren’t just dealing with pain. We’re dealing with things that feel too far gone. Too late. Too broken. Too dead to come back. But Jesus specializes in what feels impossible.
Before the miracle, He asked them to do something: “Take away the stone.” There was still a step of faith required.
As we come into Sunday, this is our moment to remove whatever “stone” has been sitting in front of our faith whether it be doubt, fear, disappointment, or even past experiences. Because what looks dead to you… is not beyond Jesus. Nothing is too far gone.
Reflection Question:
Where have I started to believe that it’s “too late” for God to move?
Prayer Focus:
“Jesus, I give You every situation that feels beyond hope. I believe You still have power over it.”
Action Step:
Identify one “stone” (fear, doubt, past disappointment) and intentionally surrender it to God before you walk in the doors on Sunday!
Final Thoughts: “We’re not just studying healing, we’re stepping into it. Let’s come ready.”
Come in the doors EXPECTING God to move this morning!
Don’t forget we have pre-service prayer every Sunday morning from 9:00-9:30. Would you plan to be there this morning and intercede for our service?
